Info | We are a friendly society, bringing together individuals who share a fascination for Astronomy and Space. A major project involves the construction of the proposed 'Coleshill Community Observatory' (CCO).
The observatory will house a large 16" diameter telescope which will provide magnificent views of the moon, planets and stars.
Initial proposals for setting up the observatory have been discussed with local councillors Peter Fowler and Theresa Welby. Both councillors have given the project their fullest approval and support.
Talks have taken place to discuss the educational benefits of the observatory
with Mrs Catherine Kearney, Head teacher of Coleshill School.
Talks concerning the development of the Observatory, as a magnificent resource for the community, will hopefully be arranged soon with Town Clerk
Mrs Maureen Gascoigne.
It is hoped that set up costs, for construction and equipment, will be raised by forging sponsorships with small local businesses and large companies based in Coleshill. Awards from National bodies, education, and possible funding from local community grants will also be explored. |
