Astrophotography is the photography of stars, planets and other items of interest to astronomers both professional and amateur. Astrophotography poses problems over normal photography as the items being imaged are usually extremely faint requiring long exposure times. Astrophotography requires a camera (usually SLR or DSLR) both capable of being fitted to a telescope eyepiece as well as long exposure times. For longer exposures an astrophotographer also needs a telescope and mount capable of accurately tracking the rotation of the earth to keep the item being photographed in the frame of the camera.
